Saint John Paul II National Shrine Exhibit Space

Commercial > Mixed Use

In this 16,000 square foot space, more than 70,000 feet of cable was installed for power, lighting, fire alarm and security as well as rough-in of raceways for AV Systems.  Approximately 80% of the work was done off lifts to an underside of slab 19 feet above ground.  At one point over 35 lifts were on site amongst all trades.

The project has an integrated dimming and audio visual system that had to be coordinated with the owner’s AV contractor.  This project has AV installations in nearly every gallery with multiple wall pockets for audio visual displays.  The detail was critical with lay out for all exhibits because the exhibit fabrications were being fabricated during the construction phase for installation immediately upon completion.  All dimensional information came from three separate sets of documents that had to be reviewed and coordinated to make sure rough-ins were in the correct place.  When this project was completed, changes exceeded half of the contract.

We're proud to announce that J.E. Richards was recognzied with an award for Excellent Craftsmanship by the Washington Building Congress for Lighting Systems on this project in March 2015.
