The Foodshare Walk Against Hunger began in 1983 and is now the largest anti-hunger event in the state of Connecticut. Foodshare is our region’s foodbank and serves Hartford and Tolland counties. In 2016, Foodshare distributed food for 11.5 million meals but that was not enough to meet the growing demand. 137,000 people in these two counties are hungry, the majority of whom are children and seniors. Foodshare’s goals are to increase the amount of food available coupled with bringing down the need for food by helping people find greater stability.
